With homelessness in all its forms an ever growing issue for many young people, YMCA Cardiff has raised the required funding to build a new 18-bed apartment complex, providing safe and secure accommodation specifically for young adults at risk of homelessness.
The apartment complex which sits adjacement to the YMCA’s main building in Cardiff, has been built using contemporary methods of construction and includes the use of Vertix EasySeam Standing Seam System on large sections of the front wall elevation.
The YMCA uses a bright colour palette to represent each of its five key work areas; Family & Youth work, Health & Wellbeing, Housing, Training & Education and Support & Advice. The vibrant colour scheme is also used to externally convey the organisation’s positive and hopeful personality. A number of the YMCA’s vivid colours have been incorporated in the design of the new building, helping it to stand out and reinforcing the organisation’s personality.
To achieve this, Vertix EasySeam Wall Cladding System panels in Colorcoat Prisma® Anthracite were horizontally fixed on the front building elevations. Individual vinyl films reflecting YMCA’s colour palette were then applied to the pan of each EasySeam panel, creating a building that is both visually striking and on brand.
The finished apartment complex provides a comfortable and nurturing space for its residents, with access to comprehensive on-site support services to help each young person address their own unique needs. It offers each young resident a stable environment to rebuild their lives and create a brighter future.
“When we designed this building, we wanted to ensure not only was it a quality build, but also a vibrant and joyful building for our residents. The colourful vinyl films applied to Vertix EasySeam Wall System certainly achieve this and make the building stand out. So many of our visitors and residents have commented on the look of the site. We are beyond delighted with this final finish and Vertix Systems contribution to this”.
